MEDIA COUNCIL

The Media Council

Media Council is the government regulatory body established in 1994 under the Press and Journalist Act as a body governing media services and operations in Uganda. The role of the media council is to:

Regulate the conduct & promote good ethical standards & discipline     among journalists, filmmakers, script writers, producers, artists,     technicians and any person involved in media work in the country
To censor films, video tapes, plays, & related apparatuses for public     consumption
To generally promote the flow of information
To exercise disciplinary control over journalists, editors, publishers,     producers, technicians and any person involved in media work

Non-Ugandans interested in carrying out any film or video production work, or any other work related to media, need to get clearance from the Media Council.
